Man Gets Life in Prison Plus 15 to 30 Years for Shooting and Killing Friend

Prosecutors said Nicholas Kovatto stood over Eric Kramer as he fired five times and then drank a beer just feet away from the body as he waited for police.

A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole plus 15 to 30 years in the shooting death of a friend.

The (Doylestown) Intelligencer reports that a Bucks County judge imposed the term last week on 38-year-old Nicholas Kovatto of West Rockhill.

Kovatto was convicted in March of first-degree murder in the November 2015 slaying of 32-year-old Eric Kramer, who was shot in the head outside a Richland Township home. He was also convicted of drug and firearms counts.

Prosecutors said Kovatto stood over Kramer as he fired five times and then drank a beer just feet away from the body as he waited for police.

During sentencing, President Judge Jeffrey L. Finley called the slaying "cold" and "remorseless."
