Mothers Face Endangerment Charges After Home Alone Tot Winds Up on Roof

Two Philadelphia mothers face charges after a 2-year-old boy was rescued from the roof of a three-story home in northeast Philadelphia.

Police said they rushed to the third floor of the home on Leiper Street in Frankford shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday after the boy was spotted.

He was pulled to safety through a third-story window. A 1-year-old boy trying to climb out the window was also rescued.

Both boys were treated at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children as a precaution, said police.

Police said the toddlers had been left home alone. Both mothers were charged with endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person

Police charged the 2-year-old's mother, 22-year-old Cleaira Bell, as an adult. Police didn't identify the younger child's 17-year-old mother since she herself is a minor.

A listed number for Bell couldn't be found Tuesday and it was unclear whether she had an attorney.
