Man Shot in Chest, Dies

Shots rang out overnight leaving a man dead along a city street.

Philadelphia Police responded to the 400 block of Sentner Street in the city’s Lawncrest section around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

They found a man in his 30s shot in the chest.

Medics rushed the man to Einstein Hospital but it was too late. The man was pronounced dead just after 2 a.m.

When police lifted the yet-to-be identified victim’s body they found a black handgun. They also found evidence of a possible shootout.

“We found three spent shell casings... some about 20 to 30 feet away from the body and one of the casings was very close to where the victim had collapsed,” said police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Small said police were looking over surveillance video in hopes of finding clues. They also are looking for a car.

Witnesses saw a dark-colored vehicle with a spoiler in the rear leaving the crime scene moments after the shooting, according to Small.

Police hope to track down that vehicle to see if anyone inside was involved with the shooting.
