Roadside Assistance Worker Struck by Vehicle While Changing Flat Tire in Langhorne

A roadside assistance worker is in the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle while changing a flat tire in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

The victim, who works for Auto Rescue, responded to Route 1 and PA 413 Sunday around 8:45 p.m. after a driver's vehicle had a flat tire. As the worker was changing the flat on the side of the road he was struck by another vehicle traveling northbound on Route 1.

The worker suffered several broken bones and head injuries. He was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center where he is currently in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the worker remained on the scene after the accident. Investigators don't believe speed, alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Instead they say the accident was likely due to the small width of shoulders on roads in the area.

The roadway was shut down for about an hour after the crash until it was later reopened around 10 p.m.
