Ex-High School Football Players Learn Fates for South Jersey Robbery Spree

Two former New Jersey high school football players have been sentenced in a string of armed robberies in 2014.

The Asbury Park Press reports the former Lakewood High School football players, who are now 17 and 18, were sentenced on Thursday in Ocean County.

A 17-year-old boy was sentenced to a dozen years in the custody of the state Juvenile Justice Commission for robbing six people in four separate holdups in 2014. The 18-year-old who prosecutors say was the wheel man for the robbery spree was sentenced to six years in the custody of the commission.

Two other former players are awaiting sentencing in the case.
