Dip in Swimming Hole Turns Deadly

It was a deadly holiday weekend at a South Jersey lake.

Manchester Township, Ocean County, police say 35-year-old Ramon Carabajo-Pinos of Hamilton apparently drowned at Harry Wright Lake Sunday.

Police say Carabajo-Pinos disappeared while swimming with one of his young children. The child alerted lifeguards and other swimmers.

Carabajo-Pinos was found and resuscitation efforts were made. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

With temps pushing into the 90s throughout the weekend many people were searching for ways to cool off. People should remember the potential dangers of swimming however. On average around 3,500 people die each year from accidental drownings, according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.
