College Student Killed in Shooting After Party

Investigators say a 22-year-old Lackawanna College student was shot and killed after a party this weekend.

Authorities say Harrisburg, Pa. resident Rahsan Crowder was pronounced dead at a hospital around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, a little more than an hour after he was shot near the school's campus in Scranton. Acting police Chief Carl Graziano says police had responded to the area for a report of a shooting and found Crowder with gunshot wounds.

Graziano says police believe Crowder had attended a party near the crime scene and had been involved in some sort of argument. He says police have possible suspects, but no arrest was immediately announced.

A university spokeswoman calls it “a terrible tragedy.” The spokeswoman, Wendy Evans, says the university is “absolutely heartbroken.”

The University of Scranton, which is nearby, sent out emergency alerts to its students shortly after the shooting that asked that they stay inside, reported the Citizens Voice. The school later sent out a follow-up message that asked students to avoid the investigation area.

Friends turned to Twitter to remember their friend.

"R.I.P. Rashan, he was like an older brother to me. I'm speechless. My prayers go out to the Crowder family," tweeted @QuenceyAnnesse_.
