Cryptic Message Adds Mystery to Death of 18-Year-Old Who Fell From Center City Building

A cryptic message raised questions about what led to the death of a Temple University freshman who died after falling from a Center City high-rise Thursday evening.

"It was intentional."

That's what Rebecca "Becca" Kim apparently posted to her Facebook page shortly before falling eight stories to her death.

Kim struck another woman walking outside the H&M store on the 1600 block of Chestnut Street.

Shoppers and pedestrians watched in horror as Kim slipped and fell off the window ledge of an apartment building and landed on top of the 44-year-old leaving the pedestrian with a broken vertebrae and missing teeth.

"This is surreal to me," said a witness. "I can't even believe it."

The pre-pharmacy student was visiting friends who attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia when she fell.

Friends said "Becca" went out onto the ledge to take photos and that a friend asked her to come back inside right before she fell.

The exact circumstances around Kim's death remained under investigation Friday.
