A child is fighting for his life after he became the victim of a hit and run Sunday.

Zion Foss-Nelson, 6, was hit along the 7800 block of Provident Street in the Cedarbrook section of Philly around 7:30 p.m, police said.

Neighbors who witnessed the accident chased after the car to try and get the license plate number.  They were unsuccessful.

The child was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center with serious injuries, before being transported to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

The boy's mother was also taken to the hospital after fainting at the scene of the accident.

No word yet on the make or model of the car. Police are investigating.
