Kensington Bridge to Close for 3 Weeks

City officials are closing a North Philly bridge Wednesday for three weeks so crews can complete rehabilitation work on the structure.

Drivers will be detoured around the 'B' and Somerset Street Bridge in the city's Kensington neighborhood until the work is completed in mid-September, according to Philadelphia's Streets Department.

Motorists heading northbound will see signs along B Street redirecting them back to Lehigh Avenue and then to Front Street.

Signs for southbound traffic will be posted along Tusculum Street. Drivers would remain on Tusculum Street until they reach Mascher Street, which heads south.

The bridge will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists, according to a Streets Department spokeswoman.
