Jury Convicts Man in Beating Death of Elderly Father

A suburban Philadelphia man has been convicted in the death of his elderly father during a fight last year.

A jury found 45-year-old Jazs Bronner guilty Wednesday of third-degree murder in the killing of 73-year-old Orlando Bronner in Bristol Township. But prosecutor Robert James says he's disappointed the jury didn't believe the man intentionally killed his father.

The Intelligencer reported Bronner told police he had gotten in an argument with his father, who struck his head on a dumbbell as they fell. But prosecutors say it wasn't the fall that killed Orlando Bronner. They argued he was hit several times in the back of the head with a 10-pound dumbbell.

Jazs Bronner's attorney, Alicia Baatz, says he didn't intend to kill his father.

It's unclear when he'll be sentenced.
