The few jury commissioners remaining in Pennsylvania are deciding whether to terminate their trade organization.
The Altoona Mirror reports jury commissioners will meet Thursday in Blair County to decide if the Pennsylvania State Association of Jury Commissioners should be shut down.
The group recently lost two court challenges to laws allowing counties to eliminate the elected positions and shift jury selection duties to other employees.
Pennsylvania has had elected jury commissioners for 147 years. They contact people who say they can't serve and evaluate the validity of the claims, but the position has been replaced in nearly every county.
The president of the jury commissioners association says the organization has almost no money and doubts county commissioners will want to pay the jury commissioners' membership fees.
