A Pennsylvania State Representative has provided documentation showing that the judge who released Jerry Sandusky on a surprisingly low unsecured bail received campaign contributions from a benefit held by a Second Mile chairman.
According to Campaign Finance reports provided by Rep. Michael Vereb, Second Mile chairman Robert Poole held a fundraiser at his house for Judge Leslie Dutchcot. The Second Mile charity for at-risk kids was founded by Sandusky.
On page 12 of Duchcot’s Campaign Finance Report it is stated that Robert and Sandra Poole held a fundraiser at their home in October 2009, raising $1,463.02 for Dutchcot’s re-election.
In another section of the finance report, Robert and Sandra Poole donated $1,000 to Dutchcot’s campaign.
Dutchcot presided over Sandusky’s arraignment, and though prosecutors asked for $500,000 bail, she awarded the accused pedophile $100,000 unsecured bail. The fact that it is “unsecured” means that Sandusky doesn’t have to pay anything unless he fails to appear in court.
On Dutchcot's biography for her former law firm's website, it states that she also volunteered at Second Mile.
