JPMorgan Chase Demolishes Office as Company Expands

JPMorgan Chase and Co. has started demolishing a massive office complex in Fairfax that was formerly part of AstraZeneca's facility.

The News Journal reports JPMorgan Chase acquired the 58-acre site from AstraZeneca last May for $44 million. A company spokeswoman says construction is on time and progressing as planned. She says the company expects employees to be moving in by winter.

At the time the complex was purchased, JPMorgan said it expected to move employees in by early 2015. It's not clear why the company now plans to occupy the complex much later. AstraZeneca vacated the site by the end of 2014.

Since 2012, JPMorgan has added about 1,200 employees in Delaware. The company now employs more than 7,500 people in the state.
