It's Official: NJ School's Pie Fight Sets Record

School set Guinness World Record while raising money for soup kitchen

Hundreds of students and staff at a central New Jersey prep school can now add setting a world's record to their list of accomplishments.

Guinness World Records recently confirmed that The Lawrenceville School set the record for the biggest custard pie fight, which involved 671 people.

The Nov. 11 event was more than just a chance for participants to relieve stress and get in a few friendly shots with the six-ounce chocolate custard pies. It raised just over $15,000 to benefit the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, which is about $5,000 more than initially estimated.

The record is based on the number of participants. Each had to have access to at least two edible pies. All were baked at the school by students and other volunteers led by dining services director Gary Giberson.
