IronPigs to Give Winning Fan Free Funeral

Talk about thinking inside the box.

From the minor-league baseball club that gave you the world's first "urinal gaming system" comes a promotion that's more 6 feet under than it is over the top: One "lucky" fan will win a free funeral package.

The Triple A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, plans to announce the winner of the fan giveaway at Tuesday night's game in Allentown.

Fans had to submit an essay describing their ideal funeral and explain why they deserved a free one.

This year, the IronPigs gained notoriety for installing a gaming system in the men's restrooms at Coca-Cola Park. The park had screens installed above urinals that display a game. One of the games, a downhill snowmobile competition, uses a man's flow to control a virtual snowmobiler as he tries to hit penguins on the route. Moving the stream left or right, will move the driver in that direction.

The fan response to the urinal gaming system has been overwhelming, response to the essay contest, not so much.

Fifty essays were turned in.
