Inside Ritz-Carlton's $25M Renovation

One year and $25 million later, the Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia's propertywide renovation is finally complete.

New York-based real estate investment trust Carey Watermark Investors Inc. last year purchased a majority interest in the property, and the multimillion-dollar renovation was part of its plans.

Those plans were finally complete, as the property on Thursday celebrates its grand reopening.

Updates — by architect and interior designer Wimberly Interiors — include renovations to its 299 guest rooms and its meeting spaces, an updated lobby and the public spaces, and a new restaurant, bar and lounge by Chef Richard Sandoval.

The guest rooms — which are all new except for the crown moldings — have a neutral color palate, using colors that signify money, including copper and gold, to pay homage to its past.
