Inmate Beaten to Death By Cellmate: Police

State police say an inmate at a state prison in central Pennsylvania has been killed by his cellmate.

Troopers from the barracks in Clearfield are investigating the death of 59-year-old William Albert Keitel. Keitel was an inmate at the State Correctional Institution-Houtzdale, when he was beaten by his 43-year-old cellmate.

Police say Keitel was punched and kicked in the head on Aug. 2 and died Sunday at Altoona Hospital.

Police are not identifying the suspect while they continue the investigation, including a review of pending autopsy results.

Police say the incident happened after both men returned to their cell from work assignments about 1 p.m. that day.
