At Least 7 Injured as Van Careens Into FedEx Truck in Montgomery County

A van got wedged under a FedEx truck, leaving at least seven people injured and shutting shown part of Route 309, during a crash in Horsham Township Saturday morning.

The crash happened at the intersection of Route 309 and Welsh Road, Montgomery County Dispatch said. Multiple law enforcement and rescue personnel responded, shutting portions of both northbound and southbound Route 309.

Surveillance video from a nearby gas station shows the van slamming into the side of the truck shortly after 6 a.m. Police say the FedEx truck had broken down, but officers were already at the scene diverting traffic with their lights on when the crash happened.

"The noise was just - it was scary," said Ahjay Johnson, a gas station employee who was out during her break when the van careened into the truck.

One person had to be airlifted to Jefferson Hospital, Montgomery County dispatch said. Authorities could not immediately provide the conditions of the other victims.

Northbound Route 309 will remain shut down at the Route 63 off ramp through at least 11 a.m. as authorities investigate and clear up the debris from the crash. Southbound Route 309 will also remain closed from Hartman Road.
