Incumbent Trustee Re-elected at Penn State

Delegates of state agricultural groups have re-elected incumbent Carl Shaffer to Penn State's Board of Trustees.
 
The vote Thursday came a day before results for the more widely-publicized campaign for three alumni-elected seats on the board are to be announced.
 
They are they first elections for board seats since some alumni criticized trustees for their decisions in the aftermath of child sexual abuse charges against retired assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
 
Two agricultural trustee seats were up Thursday. Besides Shaffer, the other incumbent, Barron Hetherington, opted against running after becoming an adviser last year to Gov. Tom Corbett.
 
While some groups or delegates weighed the scandal, agricultural topics appeared to be the campaign's driving issues.
 
Board newcomer Donald Cotner, an egg farmer from Danville, was elected to replace Hetherington.
