I-95 Reopens in Del.

Concrete falling onto road from overpass not a structural issue, say police

Northbound I-95 by Naamens Road was shut down at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday after concrete from an overpass began falling onto the highway, but one lane has reopened after Delaware State Police decided there is no structural damage on the bridge.

Before one lane reopened at about 11:30 a.m., traffic was being diverted to Naamens Road and then back on to northbound I-95 on the other side of the overpass.

Police said that the debris which fell from the overpass was not part of any structural damage on the bridge.

An alternate route in the area is I-495.
