Husband Shoots Wife, Calls 911: Cops

Police arrested a man who allegedly shot his wife and then reported his crime to a 911 dispatcher.

On Friday, at 1:13 p.m., officers were called to a home on the 500 block of Wales Road in Havertown after the dispatcher received an emergency hang-up call. Investigators say the officers requested the dispatcher call the home back for more information.

After the dispatcher called the home again, police say a 25-year-old woman answered the phone and claimed she had been shot by her husband. A few minutes later, police say the woman’s husband called 911 as well and admitted to shooting his wife.

The dispatcher kept the man, later identified as 26-year-old Geral Ray Moss Jr., on the line while officers arrived and secured the perimeter of the house. Both the officers and the dispatcher were then able to talk Moss out of the house where he surrendered and was taken into custody, according to investigators.

Police found the woman inside the house with a gunshot wound in the right shoulder. She was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she is currently in critical but stable condition. A 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene, according to investigators. Police say the incident was domestic related.
