A Hunting Park man was arrested on Monday for allegedly murdering his 4-month-old godson.
Police say that the baby’s mother left him with his godfather, 24-year-old Marquise Waliyyuddin and his partner at his Hunting Park apartment last Sunday. The mother had reportedly left the child with Waliyyuddin a few times in the past.
A witness said that shortly before 6 p.m., people at the apartment screamed for her to call 9-1-1 after the baby reportedly stopped breathing.
The child was taken to a local hospital where he later died from severe head trauma.
Police took Waliyyuddin and his partner into custody as they investigated the cause of death.
Waliyyuddin was arrested on Monday at 5 p.m. He is charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
