Woman Pistol-Whipped, Punched During Home Invasion: Police

Three men punched, pistol-whipped, kicked and stomped a 63-year-old woman after breaking into her Millville home, according to witnesses and investigators.

The intruders allegedly broke into the home of Aida Perez on East Main Street around 8:30 p.m., cut the phone lines and demanded money.

“My mom was telling the guys, ‘Please, don’t kill me or any of my family members. Just take what you want and go,” said Aida’s son Reynaldo Rodriguez, who was present during the break in.

Aida’s sister Teresa Perez-Bermudez was also at the house visiting from Florida, along with her daughter and two grandchildren.

“I told him, if you want to kill me, you can kill me but you’re not killing my granddaughter,” said Teresa.

The family hid Teresa’s 7-month old and 3-year-old grandchildren under a bed to protect them after the thieves arrived.

Aida, who recently retired and is only four-foot-seven, now has four stitches above her eye and 14 more on her scalp. She says that the robbers kept attacking her even after she gave them $600 and that her faith is what helped her survive the terrible ordeal.

“She told them that Jesus loves you, that God is your savior and he will forgive you for this,” said Reynaldo. “Something came over and they just ran out of the house.”

Police only have a vague description of the men who were reportedly wearing dark clothing with hoods. Aida says that all she could see was their eyes.
