Cigarette Thieves Make Hole in the Wall of Philly Grocery

A wall couldn’t stop a couple cigarette thieves from grabbing hundreds of dollars of smokes from a Philadelphia grocery store.

The robbers cut a hole into the rear wall of Lolita Grocery along W Rockland Street near N 13th Street in the city’s Logan section around 3:45 a.m. on Oct. 2.

"Once inside the offenders used trash bags from the store to load numerous cartons of various brands of cigarettes valued at $450," said police in a news release.

They also grabbed an unknown amount of cash from the register, said police.

In video released by police you see one of the men using a flashlight to select certain cigarettes off the shelf.

After several minutes, the suspects – a stocky man wearing a dark scarf over his head, baggy pants and dark sneakers and another stocky man using a dark-colored hoodie to cover his face and dark sneakers with a reflective stripe – slithered back through the hole and made a dash for it.

Anyone with information on the heist is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.
