Girl, 5, Struck by Hit-Run Driver in North Philadelphia

A young girl was rushed to the hospital after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Philadelphia Sunday.

The incident happened about 4:50 p.m. in the 2200 block of N. Lambert Street in North Philadelphia.

According to investigators, a five-year-old girl was struck by an SUV. After hitting the young girl, the driver fled the scene.

When police arrived, investigators say the girl was non-responsive and had blood gushing out of her mouth. She also had a large gash on her head above her right eye.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where she is listed in stable condition. She was transferred to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

The striking vehicle is described as a light-colored SUV Jeep with a possible Pennsylvania license plate number JSG-6673. The car, police say, was operated by a heavy-set black male.

So far, no arrests have been made.
