3 Highway Patrol Officers Injured During Performance at Police Chiefs Conference in Center City

All three officers were taken to Hahnemann Hospital where they are in stable condition and expected to be treated and released.

Three officers were injured during a performance at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference in Philadelphia Sunday.

Police told NBC10 three highway patrol officers hurt themselves while performing on their motorcycles around 6 p.m. outside the Convention Center in Center City where the conference, which features police chiefs from across the country, is taking place.

"Highway patrol drill team was doing one of their shows for the chiefs that are in town," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said. "Something we do frequently. A mishap occurred. A couple guys went down and then a subsequent one with a different stunt."

All three officers were taken to Hahnemann Hospital and treated for minor hand, arm and leg injuries.

"Right now looks like a couple minor injuries," Ross said. "Two are about to be discharged and a third shortly. Bumps and bruises and that's about it."

The incident comes a day after two Philadelphia police officers were injured during a confrontation with protesters outside the IACP conference. Those officers also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and at least five protesters were arrested.
