Teen Killed Outside High School Party

A party for high schoolers at a community center turned deadly for an area teenager.

Someone shot D'Andre Green outside the Brookside Community Center on the 900 block of Marrows Road in Newark, Del. late Saturday night.

According to New Castle County Police, officers were called to the community center around 11:45 p.m. for the report of a large crowd and disturbance.

When police arrived they found Green, who was just 16, suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics rushed the New Castle teen to Christiana Hospital where he died a short time later.

Officers on the scene called for more officers to assist in crowd control so that they could canvass the surrounding neighborhood for clues.

Despite the efforts of investigators, the shooter got away, according to police.

Green's family told NBC10 that he was shot in the back as he tried to flee the party after violence erupted. They called Green a positive kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police didn’t give a motive for the shooting.
