Hero Passenger Stops Bus After Driver Seizes

No pedestrians or passengers were hurt in the Walnut Street bus crash

A SEPTA bus hit a light pole on Walnut Street Thursday night and the lack of casualties may be credited to a passenger who helped stop the bus when the driver lost control, police say.

The driver of a Route 21 bus had a seizure and lost control of the vehicle at about 8 p.m, SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch told philly.com.

Police at the scene said it was a passenger who helped stop the bus, which ended up driving onto the sidewalk and knocking down a light pole between 12th and Camac streets on Walnut.

No pedestrians or passengers were hurt in the crash.

The driver was brought to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
