A flood warning is in effect for much of eastern Pennsylvania as heavy rain moves up the eastern seaboard in time for the busiest travel day of the year.
The National Weather Service says rain will taper off through the day but a flash flood watch is in effect into Wednesday afternoon.
The weather service says more than two-inches of rain has fallen in the Philadelphia area since midnight Tuesday.
The heavy rain is certainly taking its toll on holiday travelers looking to get out of town today.
Slick roads have caused numerous accidents on many of the area's major roadways, including a tractor trailer that overturned off I-95 S near Highland Avenue and landed on Concord Road causing it to close at Bethel Road.
Kelly Drive is also closed between W. Hunting Park and the Falls Bridge and N. Ferry Road and the Falls Bridge due to flooding.
Public transportation has also been affected by the bad weather. Check SEPTA's Website for any delays/cancellations to your route.
Philadelphia International Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says the weather isn't causing problems for flyers. She says some flights were canceled because of the weather Tuesday night but things are moving fairly well Wednesday.
Lupica advises travelers to get to the airport about two hours before their flight. She says the Transportation Security Administration's website provides helpful information for infrequent travelers.
