No Heat Wave in Philly Yet

UPDATE: We didn't quite get there Saturday. Temperatures hit a high of 88 so no heat wave yet.

Will it be a heat wave?

With the Philadelphia region in for another hot and humid day Saturday, the first heat wave of the season could be declared.

For a heat wave to occur, the high temperature in Philadelphia must hit 90 or higher for three consecutive days. After temps hit 92 Thursday and a record-tying 95 on Friday, the first two 90-plus days are in the books, but will the third happen?

"We are on track for a heat wave with a forecast high of 91 Saturday," , said First Alert Weather meteorologist Brittney Shipp. "It’s very close to the threshold but it will not be as humid Saturday with drier air moving in from the northwest."

Heat wave or not, Saturday will still be hot and that can hit people hard.

"You should still drink plenty of water since these temperatures are well above average for this time of year and our bodies are not used to it yet," said Shipp.
