Christie Gives Prince Harry His Own ‘Royal Fleece'

Gov. gifts a staple of his wardrobe to the Prince Harry of Wales

Governor Chris Christie is sharing his prized fleece.

The governor tweeted a photo of himself giving Britain's Prince Harry a blue fleece jacket today. The tweet read: "Greeting Prince Harry at the Jersey Shore the best way I know how: with his own Royal Fleece."

Prince Harry visited the Jersey Shore to tour areas ravaged by Superstorm Sandy. Prince Harry noted the 'American spirit.'

"Everyone getting together and making things right," he said, commenting on the "American Spirit."

"It's fantastic," he added.

His presence brought cheer to Mantoloking and Seaside Heights, a shore town still struggling to recover.

The words "Chris Christie Governor" were a fixture in the minds of New Jerseyans who watched Christie guide the state during the weeks following Superstorm Sandy. He wore his blue fleece jacket at just about every news conference the week after the devastating storm.

Christie has a good attitude about his 'beloved' blue fleece jacket. The two have become synonymous with the Garden State and Superstorm Sandy.

Christie himself has had a good laugh about it, and has learned the "power of fleece."

The governor appeared in his fleece on Saturday Night Live last year, mocking his wearing of the jacket ad nauseum during Superstorm Sandy.

"It's basically fused to my skin at this point," Christie said during the program's Weekend Update skit. "I'm going to die in this fleece."

More recently, Christie starred in a YouTube video: "Governor Christie: Maybe There Is Something To This Fleece."

It was played on May 7 for the New Jersey Legislative Correspondence's Club Dinner.
