Sixteen New Jersey students have been awarded a big chunk of change through a challenge that tests their ability to do “real-world” budgeting.
The H&R Block Budget Challenge is a teen financial literacy program that challenges students in mastering budgeting and finance decision-making. The sixteen winners from Lower Cape May Regional High School won $20,000 each, and are just a portion of the winners nationwide.
“We’re proud of all sixteen Lower Cape May Regional High School students included among the top-performing students in the country for the H&R Block Budget Challenge,” Michael Wilson, business teacher at Lower Cape May High School, said in a release. “Financial literacy is important to the future success of our students, and we’re thrilled there’s such a hands-on platform through which they can learn.”
In addition to the individual awards, Lower Cape May Regional High School has been awarded two $5,000 grants through the Budget Challenge.
“We’re honored to be among the top-performing schools in the country for the H&R Block Budget Challenge,” Wilson said in a release.
