Officials have charged a western Pennsylvania man in the shooting death of a longtime gun shop owner.

State police on Wednesday charged 43-year-old Jack Edmundson Jr. with homicide. They say Edmundson shot and killed 62-year-old Frank Petro inside Frank's Gun & Taxidermy Shop in Saltsburg on Tuesday.

Indiana County Deputy Coroner Jerry Overman says Petro was shot multiple times.

It's not clear what prompted the shooting. State police say they will release additional details on Thursday.

Edmundson also faces charges of attempted arson and aggravated assault.

A phone message left at a listing for Edmundson wasn't immediately returned.

The suspect was also wounded during the incident and taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
