Family's Lawn Decorations Hit Twice by ‘Grinch' Thieves

Where's Cindy Lou Who when you need her?

Someone is stealing Christmas from a Delaware County family’s lawn, and it is unknown whether the 4-foot tall polar bear and candy canes made the thief green with envy or if there was more of a Grinch-like motive of "I must stop Christmas from coming.”

Mike Perry of Aldan tells NBC Philadelphia that someone stole a four-foot deer and candy canes from his lawn last week and then at 6:30 a.m. Friday came back for more.

“I put a sign up and it says, ‘thank you for ruining my kids’ Christmas and stealing my kids’ decorations,’ “ Perry told the Delco Times. “As long as somebody sees it maybe they’ll think twice of their surroundings.”

Perry says that after the first theft he came back from early morning Black Friday shopping to see an older model of a silver Ford Windstar minivan in front of his house and two people trying to lift his toy soldier decorations from his lawn at 6:30 a.m. They saw him and ran. But they had already packed up his four-foot tall Santa-themed Mickey Mouse and his large polar bear, reports the paper.

“It’s insane, because it starts with that, then it’s like ‘what’s next?’” Perry told the Delco Times. “My 7-year-old is scared and my 2-year-old is scared. I had to take it all down and it takes away the spirit of Christmas. It takes a lot for me to put it up, then I have to take it down.”

Perry has a theory about who some of the Grinch-like thieves could be. He says that a couple stopped by his house recently asking where he got his decorations. Later he saw the white Crown Victoria with tinted windows they were driving pass slowly by his house.

At least they didn’t grab the roast beast.
