Grandmom ‘Hogtied' Boy, Went to Methadone Clinic: Police

The Pennsylvania woman was arrested after the child's preschool called social workers

A Pennsylvania woman is facing charges she tied up her 5-year-old grandson inside her home so she could go to a methadone clinic.

State police charged 48-year-old Evelyn Himes with false imprisonment, simple assault and harassment charges for allegedly using scarves to hogtie the boy late last month at her home in Duncansville, Blair County.

The Altoona Mirror reports the boy's pre-school called county social workers after noticing a mark on his wrist. The boy told investigators he'd been tied down on his stomach while his grandmother left the home.

Police say Himes is the boy's current guardian.

Investigators say Himes told police she'd tied the boy to a chair to prevent him from harming himself. A phone message left for her attorney was not immediately returned Tuesday morning.
