Pa. Man Dies in Grand Canyon Fall

A 41-year-old Montgomery County man dies in the Grand Canyon in Arizona

The body of Peter Reichner of Glenside, Pa. was found last week near Yaki Point in Grand Canyon National Park, according to the National Park Service.

It appears he died from a fall, according to authorities.

Reichner was identified Thursday. His body was found Jan. 12 about 1/3 of a mile from the beginning of South Kaibab Trail on the South Rim of the canyon.

This was the first death reported at the park this year. In 2011 there were 21 deaths at the park -- the highest total since 2000 -- including falls, heart attacks, traffic accidents and more, officials said.

Yaki Point is only accessible by shuttle bus during winter months, according to the Park Service.

The investigation into Reichner's death is ongoing, officials said.
