Gov. Jack Markell to Sign Veterans' Licensing Bill

Gov. Jack Markell is set to sign legislation aimed at helping members of the military obtain occupational permits and licenses.

The bill to be signed Monday allows professional licensing boards to recognize military education, training and experience when reviewing credentials and issuing occupational licenses.

The bill also is designed to help service personnel and their spouses in obtaining or renewing professional licenses when transitioning from active duty.

The legislation also allows licensing boards to issue military members temporary licenses when they hold a valid license from another state.

The current law allows boards to do so only for military spouses.
