A New Jersey State Prison inmate has admitted attacking and beating a female guard two years ago.
Fuquan Alexander pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated assault. Under terms of a plea agreement, the 31-year-old faces an addition 10 years to be added to his 40-year prison sentence that he was serving for robbery and kidnapping.
Corrections Officer Elegia Then was letting inmates out of their cells when Alexander attacked her. She spent weeks in a hospital.
Alexander is due to be sentenced in April.
