Funeral for Pennsylvania Officer Killed in Wrong-Way Crash

Hundreds of mourners, including fellow police officers, were expected at the funeral of a western Pennsylvania officer killed in a wrong-way crash.

Nobody has been charged in the crash that killed Ligonier Township Lt. Eric Eslary early Tuesday.

But police said they were screening the blood of the driver of van that smashed head-on into Eslary's patrol SUV while driving the wrong way on Route 30 about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

A passenger in the van has said he and the van's driver were drinking before the crash after working at the swimming pool business, which owned the van.

Eslary was married and a father of six — three from a previous relationship and three from his wife, Mary Beth's, previous relationship. She is a county 911 dispatcher.

Saturday's funeral at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ligonier begins at 11 a.m.
