Funeral Held for Woman Who Went Missing After Overdosing

Funeral services have been held for a northern New Jersey woman whose remains were found a year after she died of a drug overdose.

Family and friends told The Record that 18-year-old Mila Kostadinova was an intelligent, free-spirited woman whose main goal was to put a smile on their face. Dozens of mourners turned out for the services staged Sunday.

The Dumont woman's remains were found June 17 off the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine. Bergen County authorities have said her friend, 19-year-old Antony Freay, found her dead and tossed her body over a cliff.

Freay has been charged with desecrating or damaging human remains and hindering apprehension by concealing evidence and providing false information. He has pleaded not guilty.
