Former state Sen. Vincent Fumo was listed in fair condition in the cardiac unit of Hahnemann University Hospital Friday, after being rolled out of court on a stretcher the day before.

Fumo nearly fainted Thursday afternoon and complained in court that he felt dizzy and short of breath.

He got emergency medical care on the scene and then was taken to the hospital, even though he told the Judge he was feeling better and didn't want to be hospitalized.

Last year, Fumo suffered a heart attack. Hahnemann spokeswoman Coleen Cannon said Fumo was observed by doctors and admitted to the cardiac care unit due to heart rhythem irregularities.

The trial is scheduled to resume Monday.
