A candlelight vigil was held in honor of Police Officer Charles “Chuck” Cassidy on Monday at 7 p.m. in West Oak Lane.
Cassidy was shot on October 31, 2007 at the intersection of Broad Street and 66th avenue after trying to stop a robbery at a nearby Dunkin' Donuts. The 54-year-old officer died from his injuries on November 1, 2007.
21-year-old John Lewis was sentenced to death in 2009 for the murder.
