PPA Offers Free Meters During Storm

There will be free meter and kiosk parking in Philadelphia until the morning of Wednesday, October 31

As part of preparations for Hurricane Sandy, the Philadelphia Parking Authority announced Sunday that there will be free meter and kiosk parking until the morning of Wednesday, October 31.

All PPA kiosks have been temporarily disabled and secured in plastic in advance of the storm, according to Executive Director Vince Fenerty, Philadelphia Parking Authority.

However, the Parking Authority will issue tickets for any safety-related violations.

"We are pleased to join with Mayor Michael Nutter during the current severe weather emergency to do our part to help ensure the safety of all city residents," Fenerty said in a Sunday press release.
