Trio Busted for Phony Credit Card Ring

Police in Delaware County busted up an elaborate credit card and identity theft operation.

On Wednesday, Delaware County District Attorney Michael Green displayed a “treasure trove of equipment” that the thieves used to operate their ring, The Delco Times wrote.

Computers, printers, scanners and at least 400 credit cards were all rounded up by police in a seize of an abandoned apartment where three suspects from Chester, Pa. allegedly ran their operation.

Kevin Wilmer Henson and Donald Mewha, both of the 1300 block of Renshaw Road, and Ylana Starks, of the 1100 block of Clover Lane, were charged with theft, possessing instruments of crime, receiving stolen property, identity theft and other crimes.

Police were tipped off when the landlord discovered the supposedly empty apartment full of equipment. The operation could have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars through identity theft.

Police also seized items that the fraudulent cards may have bought, including air conditioners, fishing rods and gardening tools. Police also took 2,500 still blank cards, they said.
