Franklin Fountain Ice Cream Coming to South Philly for First Time

Franklin Fountain, the popular Old City ice cream parlor and soda fountain, is partnering with an East Passyunk restaurant to bring its unique flavors to the neighborhood – the first time the dessert destination has brought its products to South Philly.

On Thursday, P'unk Burger began selling three holiday-themed milkshakes. Gingersnap eggnog custard, cinnamon and, in line with the burger joint's vegan menu options, a non-dairy peppermint will be available through the season.

But the Franklin Fountain offerings won't stop when the Christmas decorations come down. P'unk Burger's menu will continue to feature ice cream from the Old City favorite with plans for a custom East Passyunk neighborhood-inspired ice cream to be for sale at the restaurant by summer 2017.

“We always wanted to be in South Philadelphia, and we want to thank P’unk Burger for making this happen,” said Eric Berley, who owns the Franklin Fountain with his brother Ryan.

The custom, neighborhood flavor will be exclusively sold at P'unk.
