Frankie Avalon Chips in to Help Save Local Mural

Frankie Avalon is coming to the rescue of a crumbling mural of famous south Philadelphia musicians.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports officials learned Wednesday that the crooner and movie star kicked in $5,000 to help find the mural a new home.

Jane Golden, the founder and chief of the city's Mural Arts Program, says the donation is on top of $5,000 longtime disc jockey Jerry Blavat committed earlier this week.

Golden says they need about $80,000 for the project.
