Gunman Shoots Man Near Frankford Transportation Center

Police arrested a suspect in a shooting near the Frankford Transportation Center Wednesday.

The ordeal began Wednesday at 5:43 p.m. when a gunman opened fire on the 5200 block of Frankford Avenue striking a man once in the abdomen, once in the back and once in the arm. The victim, who is in his early 20s, was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

A little more than an hour later, police officers and the SWAT team gathered outside a home on 1600 Pratt Street where a suspect in the shooting was barricaded inside, according to investigators. Police then took the suspect into custody shortly after 9 p.m.

Officials have not yet revealed the suspect's identity.
