Former Treasurer Sentenced for Embezzling From Youth League

The former treasurer of a New Jersey youth sports league has been sentenced to jail for embezzling more than $100,000.

Hunterdon County prosecutors say 43-year-old Kevin Lockrey, of Flemington, recently received a 60-day county jail term and five years of probation. He had pleaded guilty in March to theft by deception.

Prosecutors say Lockrey has paid $20,000 to the Flemington-Raritan Baseball League. He also must pay $50,000 to an insurance company for a claim that was paid in connection with his theft.

Lockrey was charged last year after discrepancies were found during an audit of the organization's finances. Prosecutors have said the thefts occurred over "multiple years" but have not said why Lockrey took the money or how he used it.
