Former Pa. State Rep. Dies

Thomas J. Fee, a former state representative in western Pennsylvania for more than two decades, has died. He was 83.

The New Castle News reports Fee died Wednesday at a nursing home in New Castle, the city about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh where he began his long political career.

Fee worked his way up through the Democratic Party ranks and was elected to New Castle City Council in 1965, where he served until he was elected to the state House. He spent 24 years as a lawmaker, retiring in 1994, before being elected to one four-year term as a Lawrence County commissioner.

Fee represented the 9th District in the House, which included New Castle and other portions of the county. State Rep. Chris Sainato now holds the seat.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete Thursday.
